FAQ · Your Data & Control
YOUR DATA, YOUR RULES
What we need from you, how your information is handled, and who stays in charge.
How much of our information do you need up front?
Less than most firms expect. We sign an NDA before any confidential exchange and ask only for what the work needs: representative documents, templates and a few hours of leadership time. We don't collect material in case it might be useful later.
We keep our information private. How exposed will we be?
Your information is used for your engagement and nothing else. It isn't shared with other clients, and we only use AI providers on business terms where your inputs are not used to train their models.
Who owns our data?
You do. Your data is a balance-sheet asset, and it serves your engagement only. We prefer Canadian hosting where it's available, and we tell you plainly where your information is processed.
How are we protected from a data breach?
Through the basics done properly: multi-factor authentication, least-privilege access, encrypted devices and approved tools only. If an incident ever touches your information, we contain it the same day and notify you, whether or not it meets the legal threshold for reporting.
Do we decide which processes AI touches, or does it get free rein?
You decide. Your leadership approves each phase, sets the success criteria, and chooses which processes and information AI can reach. Every AI-assisted decision has a named person accountable for it, and a system you can't turn off is one we designed badly.
Once it's in place, who uses the AI tools?
Whoever you choose. Some work stays with leadership, such as RFIs, billing or proposals. Other work reaches project teams and the field. We usually start with leadership and widen access once the rules are set.
Is AI regulated in Canada?
There is no federal AI law in force in Canada today. Privacy law still governs personal information, and your professional obligations still apply. Our governance work maps your AI use to those frameworks so you're ready as the rules develop.
How does AI affect our professional liability?
AI doesn't change who is professionally responsible. No AI stamps a drawing or signs off on code compliance; a qualified person stays accountable. We map your AI policies to your professional liability and regulatory obligations, and we recommend asking your broker how your policy treats AI-assisted work.
